After-Hours Crisis Counseling.

The hours of the MSUeap are from 7:30am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. If you have a concern outside of these hours, you may call the EAP and leave a message for one of the counselors and someone will contact you as soon as possible.

If you have a need to speak with one someone immediately, the following services are available.

On Campus.

  • MSU Safe Place: MSU Safe Place provides shelter to anyone experiencing emotional, physical or sexual abuse in an on-going relationship and needing a safe, confidential place to stay. For support or shelter call (517) 355-1100. MSU affiliated persons needing shelter can use this number to access our on-call phone service after 5:00pm Monday through Friday and on weekends and holidays.
  • MSU Sexual Assault and Crisis Line: 24 Hour Crisis Line for MSU Students. This service is available through the MSU Counseling Center. Call them at (517) 372-6666

Community Resources and External Links.

  • Community Mental Health: Services include mental health & substance abuse counseling, aftercare services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness in need of case management, medication clinic and day treatment services. For 24 hour emergency services, call (517) 372-8460 or 800-372-8460.
  • The Listening Ear: The Listening Ear Crisis Intervention Center has been open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year since July 15, 1969. They provide free and confidential service for telephone and walk-in clients in crisis. Our volunteers are trained to deal with crises that include depression, suicide, loneliness, sexual assault, grief, and many others. To contact, call them at (517) 337-1717.
  • End Violent Encounters, Inc.: EVE's House provides shelter and supportive services for the victims of domestic violence, while seeking to end domestic violence through public awareness and community education. The 24 Hour Crisis Line is (517) 372-5572, or 1-888-796-5222.
  • Lansing Area LGBT Hotline: Hotline for Lesbian-Gay-Bi-Transgendered needs and concerns. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00pm until 10:00pm, Sunday 2:00pm until 5:00pm.
