  • The Faculty-Professional Women's Association. The Faculty-Professional Women's Association (FPWA) of Michigan State University is an independent voice that advocates equality of professional opportunity, promotes awareness of women's concerns, and recognizes the achievements of MSU women and their contributions to the University.   • The Women's Advisory Committee for Finance, Personnel & Operations. The WACFPO serves in an advisory role to the Vice President for Finance, Personnel & Operations on a number of issues related to women at MSU. The responsibilities of the WACFPO include policy recommendations, problem awareness, and acting as a liason between staff and the administration. For more information, click the link above.
  • Women's Advisory Committee to the Provost. The Women's Advisory Committee to the Provost, a Board-established committee, advises the Provost on important issues of special interest to women within the University community. In its advisory capacity, the committee assists in identifying and in suggesting solutions to important issues relative to the roles and participation of women in the academic areas of the University. The committee may consult with the Provost or members of the Provost's staff to clarify and to discuss strategies for enhancing the experiences of and conditions for women in the academic workplace.
  • Women and International Development (WID) Program. Michigan State University's Women & International Development Program (WID) promotes teaching, research, and action on international development and global transformation as they affect women and gender relations. While WID's primary focus is the Southern Hemisphere, the program recognizes that the "South" is a set of relationships rather than a place. Moreover, development and global change bring costs as well as benefits, which are often not shared equally by men and women of different nations, races, classes, and ethnicities.
  • MSU Women's Council. Women's Council is a vehicle through which women's voices can be heard at Michigan State University and the greater community. The goal of Women's Council is to enhance the quality of women's lives on campus and provide a safe community in which all persons can work collectively to improve the status of women.   • MSU Safe Place: MSU Safe Place provides shelter to anyone experiencing emotional, physical or sexual abuse in an on-going relationship and needing a safe, confidential place to stay. For support or shelter call (517) 355-1100. MSU affiliated persons needing shelter can use this number to access our on-call phone service after 5:00pm Monday through Friday and on weekends and holidays.

  • Michigan Women's Commission Women's Resource Directory. The mission of the Michigan Women's Commission is to improve the quality of life for Michigan Women. Through a series of public hearings held over the past year, the Commission has become aware that the state of Michigan is rich with organization and groups dedicated to improving the lives of women. What is linked here is a listing of over 600 such organizations from across the state.
  • Michigan NOW. The mission of NOW is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men. NOW seeks to eliminate the roots of sexism in society by actions, including lobbying, educating and mobilizing the community on women's rights issues.
