Service Model.
The MSUeap operates within a short term counseling/coaching service model. EAP services are available to all MSU faculty and staff, graduate student employees, and retirees. In addition, all services are available to the immediate family members (spouses, partners, children, etc) of those groups.
Clients are eligible for one to six sessions with a counselor. During their sessions, clients will be on one of several paths:
- Use the session(s) to take a specific crisis, concern, dilemma and hold it up for reflection and insight
- Use the session(s) as an opportunity to honestly and fully share what is going on and be in partnership with the counselor to determine the best course of treatment or intervention. Identifying what is happening and determining what path to be on to resolve current life issues and to alter unhelpful coping patterns.
- Use the session to share with the EAP counselor what is going on, and in partnership determine best options for on-going work with a community based mental health provider.
